Dear Parents and Students,
Here are the school rules as set. Please read them over carefully. Following the school’s rules will help contribute to a positive atmosphere in the school and also help minimize friction.
Arrival at school
Students should arrive at school with all necessary equipment, including homework and special assignments as needed. As student who forgets his work three times will receive a note home, or parents may be called.
Students may begin arriving at school by 7:45 daily.
School officially begins at 8:00. Students should arrive shortly before that time. Anyone arriving late must bring a note from his parents explaining the reason. If late arrivals continue, the school will act, in cooperation with the parents to insure that the child arrives on time
Children should not bring balls, toys, electronic games to school. The school will supply the children with sport equipment as needed. Do not bring cellphones. If there is a special need for a phone (or another item on the above list) it must be approved by the Homeroom teacher and authorized by the principal.
Do not bring various trading cards, pogim, other collectable toys that are based on television programs or other inappropriate sources.
If a child feels ill or needs to go home for some other reason before the end of the school day, this will be allowed only with written permission from the parent.
Respect for Teachers
Students should rise when a teacher enters the classroom. Students will be expected to follow the teacher’s instructions in all areas.
Students may speak in class only when they have raised their hand a teacher has called on them.
Students should not interfere in class either by speaking with friends or by playing with things on their desks etc… In case of repeated interruptions the teacher may take the following actions:
– Verbal warning and/or a note to parents
– Keep a student in the classroom during recess to complete an extra assignment
– Keep a student an extra hour after school to complete an extra assignment – this is only done with prior knowledge of the parents.
Students may leave for recess only after the teacher has given permission. During recess students can play in the playgrounds (according to the schedule), read in the library, enjoy directed games and activities, or just play with friend.
Students should return to class immediately at the bell. A student who is late three times will receive a not home.
Students must eat in their classrooms only.
students must always take good care of school property and keep the grounds clean.
It is important to make use of the afternoon hours in a positive way that is in keeping with the school ideology: going to shiurim, youth groups, local libraries, chugim are some examples.
We feel that TV viewing is a negative activity due to the large amount of inappropriate content that is damaging to the children and goes against our educational ideals.
Use the time to do homework, prepare for tests and other important goals.
We feel it is important to choose a youth group that teaches values and follows Torah ideals.
It is very important that parents are aware of what their children do in the afternoons and are aware of the atmosphere and surroundings in which the children are spending time.
Respect for Fellow Students
Each student will be treated nicely ad fairly by teachers, students and staff
All students will be expected to treat others with respect at all times
No students may touch the property of another student without permission
Violence: No student has the right to harm another, either verbally or physically, for any reason or in any way. In the event that a student harms another, the following steps may be taken:
– discussion of the event and its consequences
– suspension and/or discussion regarding further consequences
– punishment in keeping with the offence
– Note of actions in personal record
– Parents may be called in for a meeting
– Extended suspension from school
– Written apology from the students and a letter saying that the behavior will not be repeated
In the event of reoccurring violence, a student may be suspended and return to school only with parental supervision. (Parents will be asked to supervise their child in school for a full school day.)
Students who damage school property will be required to repair, clean or pay for the damage done. Prents will be responsible to pay for damage immediately.
The school will provide balls and sport equipment as needed. Ball playing is allowed only outside in the designated areas.
students should feel that the school is like their home and strive to keep it clean and orderly.
All students must wear a kippa and tzitzit. School uniforms must be worn Sunday through Thursday. On Friday uniforms are not required, but no printed T shirts are allowed.
During the warmer months, grades 1 – 3 can wear short pants as long as they reach the knee. In grades 4 – 6 long pants are required all year.
Uniform shirts are blue or grey polos with the school logo on the front. On Rosh Chodesh and other special days students should wear a white uniform shirt and blue pants.
